EVENT DESCRIPTION
Podcast Guests:
Today’s ride will led by none other than Annika Langvad (Specialized Racing) and Kate Courtney (Scott-SRAM), as they reminisce about their time and victory together at the Absa Cape Epic amongst othe things. Join the ride with these two incredible athletes and enjoy the podcast playing in the ride with Q&A session entwined. NOTE: The Replay ride is a way to listen to the Podcast after the premier but with no guest ride leaders to accompany you.

The Absa Cape Epic is a race of a thousand untold stories. These tales come from hundreds of competitors from all over the globe. And these hardcore mountain bikers are united by days and days of racing across the long, dry and dusty course in South Africa.

Completing the Absa Cape Epic is more than making it across the finish line eight days in a row as part of a two-person team. It’s more than covering 655km // 407mi or climbing and descending 15,550m // 51,017’. Completing the Absa Cape Epic is about juggling multiple skills for more than a week.

It’s about going beyond your limits.

Riders need to race smart, conserve energy, maintain their bikes, and ride as fast as possible, without overdoing it. Since it’s a two-person race, teamwork is paramount.

Join Payson McElveen, host of the Adventure Stache Podcast, and Zwift with some of the best Cape Epic riders while listening to their stories of victory, upset, as well as preparation and tales from the race.

Payson, as you probably know, is no slouch. The 2x Marathon National Champion has raced in far off places like Argentina and Mongolia. And when he turns up at his hometown training race in Durango, Colorado, he often goes head to head with racing legends like Ned Overend, Todd Wells, and Sepp Kuss. That’s a long way of saying he has as many stories as he has cans of Red bull in his garage.
