This March, we’re honoring our female leaders, the incredible Zwift community, and all the women who make up our team, creating positive change for all women everywhere.
The women at Zwift have been breaking barriers for women in sport and the workplace for years.
In 2016, we launched Zwift Academy, a groundbreaking women’s cycling talent ID competition. We partnered with CANYON//SRAM Racing, a leading WorldTour women’s team, to create a new pathway to the pros. Over the past six years, Zwift Academy has created the largest global women’s training community while launching the careers of six new pros. We’ve added Zwift Academy Tri and Zwift Academy Run, where women can train together and unlock real-world race opportunities.
Last year, we announced that we’d signed on as the title sponsor of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift for four years. This is an incredible opportunity to grow women’s cycling around the world as well as establish the race as the pinnacle of the UC Women’s WorldTour cycling calendar. Through this, Zwift hopes to establish a legacy that inspires the next generation of women cyclists and provide equal opportunities to take them to the same heights as their male peers.
“This is a huge moment for professional women’s cycling. The Tour de France is the most famous race in cycling and it’s long been a dream for many of us in the women’s peloton to compete in such a race.” –Anna van der Breggen, Professional Cyclist, and now General Manager for UCI Women’s WorldTeam SD Worx.
In 2021, Zwift also launched its very first Women’s Employee Resource Group (ERG), committed to empowering and supporting women and their allies at all career stages. Zwift Women’s ERG fosters a community that focuses on the development of women through coaching and mentoring frameworks led by women for current and future women leaders at Zwift.
Additionally, Zwift recently added its first female board member, positioned new female leaders at the VP level, and partnered with Latinas in Tech in 2021 to connect, support, and empower our Latina employees in order to bring more diversity and inclusion to tech.
“The Zwift Women’s ERG is creating a community for women and allies and offering a safe space where we can discuss workplace challenges and leverage workshops to gain leadership skills to help women find their voice.” – Brittany Jones, Zwift Women’s ERG Co-lead and Director of QA at Zwift.
Zwift continues to invest in organizations that advance female representation in sport. This year, the company has selected two non-profit organizations to support: Women’s Sports Foundation and The Cycle Effect. To date, Zwift has donated $50,000 to the Women’s Sports Foundation, helping drive equity in sport and positively shape millions of lives—from youth, high school, and collegiate student-athletes to professional athletes and coaches.
Zwift is also donating $25,000 to The Cycle Effect in order to support their mission to empower young women through mountain biking by creating brighter futures and building stronger communities. Over two-thirds of the young women participating in The Cycle Effect’s programs identify as Latina.
While we’re excited to celebrate the work accomplished over the past few years, we recognize that our efforts to break the barriers for women both in sport and in the workplace are far from over. We are deeply committed to making Zwift a safe and welcoming space and will continue to update our community along our journey.
