TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Please Note: The Movistar Team Challenge Community Qualifier Race event has been expanded to allow the Top 5 in each race to advance (20 total) instead of the Top 3 (12 total) based on race performance.

Before you participate in the Zwift Movistar Team Challenge Program (the “Program”), we’re obligated to ask you (the “Participant”) to read and agree to the following Terms and Conditions (“T&C”). 

Sponsor

The Program is sponsored by Zwift, Inc., Long Beach, CA USA (“Sponsor”).

Opportunity

The Program will offer the opportunity to become a rider for Movistar E-Team, the esports team of Movistar Team. The Movistar Team Challenge Acts as a Talent ID program to find the best Zwift racers to build the Movistar esports Team. The riders will be required to go through a series of challenges to find the final 5 men and 5 women (10 spots in total).  Movistar Team may assign a maximum of 2 out of the 10 spots for exceptional reasons in its sole discretion.

Eligibility

By participating in the Program, you represent that you are: (i) a female or male amateur athlete in good health, (ii) not currently racing in the professional category or have any personal sports Sponsorships other than with the Sponsor, and (iii) aged 18 years or older as of March 1, 2021. Employees of Zwift, Movistar Team, GCN, or other Program Partners (the “Program Partners”) are not eligible to participate. Program Partners reserve the right to verify the eligibility of Participants at any time during the Program including both physical/physiological performance verification and anti-doping tests. Void in all countries embargoed by the United States and where prohibited or restricted by law.

Failure to comply with any verification procedures will result in disqualification from the Program. In the event of any dispute concerning the eligibility of any Participant in the Program, the Sponsor’s decision shall be final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.


Rider Selection Process

For a rider to be eligible they must have a Heart Rate monitor, use a power meter and direct drive trainer (Dual power recordings) and be at least 18 years old as of March 1, 2021.

  1. Top Zwift Racer Invite:
    • Zwift will invite Zwift racers who have been scouted as riders who have the potential to make it on the team. Nearly 300 riders (150 Men and 150 Women) have been selected and will be invited after Jan 22, 2021.
    • Top Zwifters are being invited as they have shown their commitment to e-racing and have already proven themselves
    • These riders don’t need to race in the Qualifier
  1. Movistar Team Challenge Community Qualifier Race: 
    • Community Mass participation Event open for all. The Zwift community will have the opportunity to attend and race their way for an invite to the Invitational races.
    • Up to 20 Riders (10 men/ 10 women) will be selected based on race performance that abides by the Zwift Esports Rules (found here) and applicable performance verification.

    • The top 5 riders from each qualifier race (Q1: 5 Male & 5 female, Q2: 5 Male and 5 Female – 20 total) will be invited to the Movistar Team Challenge.


Race Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Heart Rate Monitor.
  2. Direct Drive trainer and Power Meter (correctly calibrated).
  3. Zwift Power account (race performance will be compared against all historical Zwift data).
  4. Correct Weight/height.
  5. All riders will be assigned the Canyon Aeroad and Zipp 454 wheels.

Selection Method:

Riders who were either invited or qualified for the Movistar Team Challenge will be expected to complete all four scratch races and attend all finals events to be selected. Making it to each round will primarily come down to the rider’s performance. If the rider doesn’t meet the minimum requirement of each round to make it to the next round, they will be eliminated from the Movistar Team Challenge.

  1. Round 1 – INVITATIONAL RACE (Feb 10 & 12)
    • (Update Feb 9): The top 50 men and the top 30 women will receive points in each Round 1 race. The women points scoring has been reduced from 50 to 30 in order to maintain the highest level of competition among the participants.
    • Both Race 1 & 2 results will be analyzed by ZADA and Movistar, and riders may get disqualified if performance cannot be verified. 
    • No additional riders will be brought forward in the instance of a rider being disqualified.
  2. Round 2 – SELECTION RACE (Feb 17 & 19)
    • The top 40 riders (20 men & 20 women) with the most points after the 2 selection races advance to Round 3 – Finals.
    • Both Race 3 & 4 results will be analyzed by ZADA and Movistar, and riders may get disqualified if performance cannot be verified. In this scenario, the rider who finished in 21st may automatically progress in Movistar’s sole discretion.
    • No subjective review.
  3. Round 3 – FINALS (week commencing March 1)
    • Finals will be a number of challenge events where the riders will be given an array of challenges and potentially interviewed at the same time by GCN presenters and/or Movistar Staff.
    • This will help draw out individuals’ personalities that will play a role in deciding the final team with people that aligns best with the values of the Movistar team. 
    • Based on the outcome of all challenges, the Movistar Team will choose the final selection of 5 female and 5 male riders (10 spots total) to be invited to join the Movistar Esport Team for 2021.  Movistar Team may assign a maximum of 2 out of the 10 spots for exceptional reasons in its sole discretion.

Movistar coaches will attend all the events of the Challenge in order to make a selection of the potential members of the Team. Movistar’s digital team will also perform social media profile reviews of riders where needed.

All selection procedures where performance is the determining factor will be verified by ZADA. Riders will be required to abide by the Zwift Esports Rules as outlined here. The determination of the Final Movistar Team is at the sole discretion of the Program Partners.


What Will I Get If I Become A Movistar E-Team Member?

You’ll become a member of the first ever esports team developed by a WorldTour / Women’s WorldTour-licensed organization, enjoying the same advantages as our road racers – including, but not limited to:

  1. A Movistar Team-issue Canyon bike with SRAM components (both in Zwift and IRL)
  2. An Elite Direto XR trainer, Movistar E-Team limited edition
  3. Full Movistar Team kit (both in Zwift and IRL), as well as official products and services from the team as a fully-fledged Movistar E-Team member. Includes: Le Coq Sportif lifestyle wear, ABUS helmet, 100%, sunglasses, Garmin cycle computers, RAW Superdrink, cryocompression systems from Aquilo
  4. Custom attentions from the team, with training plans and systems, assessment of your nutrition and recoverytherapies… from members of the Movistar Team’s staff
  5. Support from the performance team and coaches of the Movistar Team
  6. Attending Movistar Team Training Camps
  7. Access to the Movistar Team Travel Experience cycling trips
  8. 1-year contract, subject to renewal upon review
  9. No salary provided

Members of the Movistar E-Team are expected to:

  1. Participate in the Zwift Racing League and other high tier virtual races by Zwift.
  2. Race as a Team, representing and wearing the brand and image of Movistar E-Team both in the game and IRL.
  3. Communicate their engagement with the Team via their social media channels, by generating content about the Movistar E-Team and their sponsors: photos, videos, posts, etc.
  4. Sign a 1 year ambassador contract with Movistar E-Team.
  5. Movistar E-Team riders will take part in the Training camps of the World Tour Team.

Data Protection Privacy/Compliance

Any information (including data, images and/or video) related to the Participant that is collected or processed (which includes collection, storing, holding and carrying out operations) by the Sponsor at the beginning and during the course of the Program will be held and used by the Sponsor and Program Partners to administer the Program in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and Zwift’s Privacy Policy (http://zwift.com/privacy/). Aggregate, non-personal data may also be used by the Sponsor and/or the Program Partners for the purpose of undertaking market research or in facilitating reviews, developments and improvements to relevant services. Participants’ personal data may be used to send Participants news and publicity material in relation to the Program. By participating in the Movistar Team Challenge, all Participants will have consented to the transfer of their personal data to the Sponsor, to the Program Partners and to each of their partners, suppliers, contractors and agents for the purposes of the administration of this Program and pursuant to these T&C. The Sponsor confirms that all personal data requested from a Participant is necessary for the purposes of the participating in the Program. Participants shall be entitled to access, rectify, complete, update, block or delete their personal data or to object to its processing by written communication to the Sponsor. Personal data on Participants’ health will only be processed by the Sponsor, the Program Partners and/or those designated medical services providers exclusively for assessing the Participants’ suitability for participating in the relevant stages of the Program.

GDPR Disclosure – The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides a number of protections for the collection and use of your personal data. Any personal information that you provide in connection with the Promotion shall be used by Zwift to administer this Program, contact Participants, and for the other purposes set forth in the Sponsor’s privacy policy located at http://zwift.com/p/privacy. By participating in this Program, you agree to Sponsor’s collection of personal information and accept their privacy policy. If Participant authorizes, by opting in, Sponsor may provide Entrant with information relating to products, services and promotions of Sponsor and affiliates of Sponsor. Participation in this Program using the Zwift Service is subject to the Sponsor’s Terms of Service located at http://zwift.com/p/terms. Your personal data/registration information will be transferred to the United States. Pursuant to EU law pertaining to data collection and processing, you have a right of access to, modification and withdrawal of your personal data. You also have the right of opposition to the data collection, under certain circumstances. To exercise such right, you may email info@zwift.com.

Rights to Use Name and Likeness

Unless prohibited by law, Participant irrevocably grants to the Sponsor and/or the Program Partners and their respective agents, contractors, successors, assigns and licensees the right, but not the obligation, and worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free, gratis license to use, photograph, record, reproduce, render, portray, recreate and depict the undersigned’s name, biographical information, visual representation, likeness, registration, video and voice, in connection with the marketing, promotion and other commercialization of Zwift and the Program in such manner as Zwift may determine in its sole discretion.

Force Majeure

Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate, modify or suspend the Sponsor or Program if, in Sponsor’s opinion, the Sponsor or Program is not capable of running as planned by reason of pandemic, travel restrictions, strikes, natural disasters or any other factors beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control that could affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Sponsor or Program.

Release and Waiver

By virtue of Participant’s participation in the Program, Participants agree that Zwift and the Program Partners, their affiliates, advertising and Promotion agencies, including the Administrator, and their directors, employees, representatives and agents, partners and prize suppliers have no liability whatsoever for, and will be held harmless by Participants for any liability for any injury, loss or damages of any kind (including death) to persons, and property damages sustained, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in this Program or any Program or Sponsor Team-related activity. Usage of the Zwift Service and participation in Zwift Rides/Runs/Events are at your own risk. You should not attempt any exercise that is beyond your skill/health level.

Additional Governing Terms

These Terms & Conditions shall otherwise be subject to and supplemented by the general Zwift Terms of Service, which are incorporated herein by this reference.
