EVENT DESCRIPTION
Nelson Beasley Vails aka “The Cheetah” was the first African-American cyclist to win an Olympic medal and he was inducted into the US Bicycle Hall of Fame in 2009. He rode as a professional from 1988 to 1995 representing the USA at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, where he won the silver medal in the sprint, behind countryman Mark Gorski.

On October 19th, “The Cheetah” is making history again leading the first ever virtual ride benefiting Bike MS on Zwift. Bike MS is the largest charity cycling series in the US having raised $68 million for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Their mission is to support the 1 million people in the US who suffer from MS and through research, find a cure for it (https://www.nationalmssociety.org/Opens a new window).

Join Nelly as he takes things back to his roots in New York City leading a group ride for 2 laps of the “Everything Bagel”. With no red lights, cars, or parents pushing strollers to slow you down, expect to cover the 64.8 km (42.8 mi) and 1090 m (3,578 ft) of elevation in just over two hours. Everyone who completes the ride will unlock the Bike MS jersey.

Want to make your miles count? Join Team Ride With Nelly as a Virtual Cyclist (it’s free) and help us fundraise by spreading the word. See you in NY!
