Workout 2: XTERRA Workout 2 | Long Tempo with Threshold Bumps
Description
Inspired by the XTERRA France bike course, with its long climbs and frequent grade changes, this workout is sub-threshold with an effort that is often termed the "sweet spot" in training. Designed to bump up threshold and increase the amount of time that you can ride near your threshold power.
XTERRA France is considered one of the longest and most challenging XTERRA courses in the world, so don't expect this workout to be easy!
Workout Structure
This workout consists of two long 18-minute tempo efforts with threshold bumps of 1 minute. For each 18-minute block, the following sequence will be repeated three times: 5-minutes at 85% FTP, 1 minute at 95% FTP. 12- minute warm-up, 6-minutes between bouts, 6-minute cool down.
