EVENT DESCRIPTION
The evening ten is a staple of the British club scene as riders up and down the country will compete with their club mates midweek on a local course. Typically run following the post rush hour traffic the evening ten is as social as it is competitive as road riders, time trailer and club-men come together to compete, chase kudos and bragging rights.

About this race
Join staff members of Cycling Weekly, multiple time trial national champion Dr Hutch and a few special guests for a classic, ten mile time trial effort. Using a variety of courses on the Zwift platform the CW club ten will be a test of your power and your pacing. Results will feature on Zwift Power and in Cycling Weekly magazine each week alongside a profile of a competitor.

How to ride a TT
As the courses vary, so will your pacing. The flattest courses require a steady sustained effort. With the effort lasting anywhere between 20 and 30 minutes depending on your speed, you will need to know what power you can sustain for that amount of time, getting you across the line with little left in your legs. Finish too fresh and you haven’t pushed hard enough, but if you start slowing before you cross the line, you’ve gone out too hard.

When on the hillier courses pacing strategy becomes even more important. Time can be gained on rivals by pushing on the ascents and recovering on the descents, just don’t back off too much. But remember, if there’s a harder climb near the end, you’ll need to hold a little back to maintain your power output in the final push.

Your aim should be to ‘get it all out’. If you do this you’ll know you couldn’t have gone any faster. Come back each week and you’ll see an improvement, and be ranked in the series on Zwift Power.

How to join the event
Join via the Zwift companion app and be pedalling in a Zwift world well ahead of the event start time. You’ll be given a prompt to join the event in the bottom left of the screen. Do this and you’ll be taken to the start and placed on a conveyor belt where you can keep spinning your legs until you get to the front of the queue. When the time comes your avatar will speed up to 20 miles per hour for a rolling start.
