EVENT DESCRIPTION
ABOUT THIS WORKOUT

We start this 8 week training plan with something I would do myself when I was a pro. It is a nice slow start with some strength endurance (SE) work.

Today will begin with 10 minutes touching all zones below threshold to warm up. This will ensure you are able to perform well 20 minutes in.

Following that we have the all important SE which is what all / most professionals perform all year, especially in their winter training and mid-season training blocks.

Over the next 8 weeks we are going to give you a first hand taste of a pro's training, without the volume and high number of repetitions. - Coach Jeremy Hunt

WORKOUT DESIGNER

Jeremy Hunt was the British national road race champion in 1997 and in 2001. Hunt was part of the Great Britain team that helped Mark Cavendish win the 2011 UCI World Road Race Championship. He is now director sportif of Azerbaijani Continental team Synergy Baku Cycling Project.

He made his professional cycling debut for Banesto in 1996, and rode there for 4 seasons, when in 2000 he began a 3-year stint at BigMat–Auber 93, taking a win against Mario Cipollini in a stage of the Tour Mediterranean in his first season with the team. He spent 1 season for MBK-Oktos until in 2004 he joined Mr. Bookmaker–Palmans–Collstrop. Hunt joined Credit Agricole in 2008, following the demise of the Mr. Bookmaker, now called Unibet.com. In 2009 he joined Cervélo TestTeam, where he made his Tour de France debut in 2010 at the age of 36, having previously turned down the opportunity of racing in the Tour whilst at Banesto in 1997. In October 2010, after the demise of the Cervélo team, he was announced as a member of Team Sky's 2011 line-up.

ABOUT GROUP WORKOUTS

Zwifters line up in the starting area just like a normal event and once the event starts, workout mode begins. Everyone stays together regardless of power output. That's right, if you're outputting 100W and another Zwifter is outputting 400W you will stay in exactly the same position relative to each other. Only if you stop pedaling and fall 6 meters behind the group will the rubber-banding stop.

HELPFUL HINT

We highly recommend doing one of the FTP tests as the estimated FTP can be inaccurate and make the difficulty level of the workouts too high for your current fitness level.
