ABOUT GROUP WORKOUTS
Zwifters line up in the starting area just like a normal event and once the event starts, workout mode begins. Everyone stays together regardless of power output. That's right, if you're outputting 100W and another Zwifter is outputting 400W you will stay in exactly the same position relative to each other. Only if you stop pedaling and fall 6 meters behind the group will the rubber-banding stop.
ABOUT THIS WORKOUT
The idea behind this workout is to simulate the massive acceleration that occurs into the bottom of climbs as teams try to position their riders near the front of the Peloton. If you get good position there is a small rest then your team takes over setting a hard tempo up the climb and all you have to do is follow the attacks! Sounds easy right?
Length: 54 minutes
Workout Designer: Greg Henderson. Over the years Greg earned a fair amount of respect due to his longevity as a professional athlete in a pretty unforgiving sport. As a pro cyclist, he won or placed in road and track events in various countries for 20 years. He had 13 pro wins, 11 grand tours and 8 classics to his credit. Even after suffering a bad knee injury in a crash during the Tour de France in 2014, he didn’t let it keep him down for long. He’s ridden for Health Net, T-Mobile, Team Columbia, Team Sky, Lotto-Belisol and he spent his final season representing UnitedHealthcare. Teammates he raced with most often were Andre Greipel, Marcel Sieberg and Adam Hansen.
HELPFUL HINT
We highly recommend doing one of the FTP tests as the estimated FTP can be inaccurate and make the difficulty level of the workouts too high for your current fitness level.
