World Bicycle Day: Racing the Sun

The sun’s about to come up, are you ready to Zwift? In honor of World Bicycle Day, thousands of Zwifters from all around the globe will come together for a series of events on Zwift to “Race the Sun” – in honor of the daily race that many people around the world face on foot.
These folks hit the ground running, literally, when the sun comes up. Without artificial lights, travel is too dangerous. And operating solely by human power, putting one foot in front of another, traveling 10 km to work, school or the market can take hours

IS THIS A RACE?
Nah. Forget the “race” in the title of the event. Sure, you can hammer after the setting sun in this 60-minutes ride, but if you just want to take a scenic pedal, that works. Just know you might finish in the dark!
PRIZES
All eligible finishers will be entered into a drawing to win some great gear like a Saris H2 Trainer, Saris M2 Trainer, or an SRAM Force AXS groupset.
RIDE LEADERS
Strong supporters of the event will lead rides – Eric Min, CEO of Zwift, Jordan Rapp, Kristin Armstrong, and individuals from Clubs on Zwift that are hoping to share their passion for pedaling for progress and hope.
UNLOCK THE KIT
Riders will be kitted out in a “Racing the Sun” jersey and shorts. Zwifters will have the opportunity to purchase an IRL version of the kit, produced by CUORE of Switzerland.
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BIKE
Your avatar will be on a version of the bicycles the WBR riders in developing countries ride: a Buffalo bike. Sturdy and overbuilt, it’s designed for the rough terrain of rural Africa.
