Ready to ride for a good cause? The Absa Cape Epic is back and you can help make a difference in the lives of others! Kicking off in-game on October 4, we’re thrilled to help build excitement for the IRL event on October 17 with this 8-part in-game series.
In collaboration with Qhubeka, these virtual rides benefit poverty-stricken areas throughout South Africa. By participating, you’ll help communities in need receive bikes to stay mobile and active all year long. Plus, funds raised by this campaign help children get to school, participate in sports, and improve access to job opportunities.
Ride alongside Absa Cape Epic race founder Kevin Vermaak and Qhubeka founder Anthony Fitzhenry, as well as other notable athletes. We’ll honor the 8 days of the IRL event with in-game rides taking place every hour on the half hour.
Plus, as soon as you turn the pedals, you’ll be tuned into the Zwift PowerUp Cycling podcast featuring athletes like Andrew Mclean, Victor Campenaerts, and Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio. They’re ready to get personal and give listeners an in-depth look into how bicycles have changed their own lives and why it’s important to give back to those in need.
Follow Team Qhubeka on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and donate to their cause here.

ABOUT THE Absa CAPE EPIC:
The Absa Cape Epic is the most televised mountain bike race in the world and the only eight-day mountain bike stage race classed as hors catégorie by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI); this official UCI status makes it a highlight on the professional racer's calendar. The Absa Cape Epic also attracts aspiring amateur riders wanting to test themselves against the best of the best. The terrain is as varied as it is harsh - dusty and demanding gravel roads, strenuous rocky climbs, thrilling technical descents, refreshing river crossings and fast forest singletracks. The route gives riders and fans the opportunity to experience the historic and scenic towns in the Western Cape, many of them off the beaten tourist track. This is a full-service, in-person race, meaning that everything is taken care of from the start - all riders need to think about is riding.
