Heffron Handicap

Heffron is widely regarded as the hardest regular handicap in Australia. The quality of riders, the technical course, the history and the handicap format make Heffron the legendary race that it is. As the saying goes, “if you can win at Heffron, you can win anywhere”.

Like every Heffron, expect a blistering start, followed by settling into an uncomfortably hard rhythm and watching the other grades in the last few minutes, hoping yours is the one that takes the win. Solo or mini break a few km’s from the line or an all-out sprint with 400m to go? That’s the age-old question that Heffron asks every race. The answer? Well, that changes too often to know. Win and you can say you’ve won Heffron – and know that if you win at Heffron, you can win anywhere. Get it wrong and all you’ll be left with are the “I could have won, if only” stories we tell our mates the next day. In the end, there can only be one Heffron winner.
