EVENT-BESCHREIBUNG
Join us for Major Taylor 1899 Whirlwind Wednesday!

The ride leader will pace at an average of 2.0 w/kg on the flats for the first 50 minutes to keep the majority of riders together. Then we will drop the fence for the final 10 minutes giving stronger riders an opportunity to PUSH THE PACE and see who can hang on!!

As this ride is NOT banded, you must maintain the stated pace in order to stay with the beacon for the first 50 minutes. We ask that anyone joining the event respect the group's etiquette.

Marshall Walter “Major” Taylor was a cycling legend.

In 1899, Major Taylor won the 1-mile and 2-mile track sprint world championships in Montreal, Canada. Major Taylor was the first USA-born African American world champion in any sport. He won the American sprint championships in 1899 and 1900.

There are more than 60 cycling clubs in the U.S. affiliated with the Major Taylor Association. Since each club operates independently without a governing body, most clubs agreed to come together and share in the responsibilities of leading these Zwift rides under the Major Taylor 1899 (MT1899) name. If you look closely at the acronym used, following the ride leader’s name, you can tell which club is leading/sweeping the ride. Regardless of the club leading for the night, all clubs are glad you decided to ride with us during this Zwift event.
