Everything you need to know about Zwift Racing League (ZRL)

What is the Zwift Racing League?

Zwift Racing League (ZRL) is team racing at its best: fast, sweaty and addictive. Every Tuesday, riders from around the world come together to race as a team, combining fitness, tactics and competition with the kind of Type 2 Fun that keeps you coming back for more.

Since 2020, ZRL has grown into one of the biggest team racing competitions on Zwift. But it’s not just about who crosses the line first. Whether you’re sprinting for points, chasing down a breakaway, helping a teammate up a climb or simply giving everything you’ve got to the finish, every rider has a role to play.

That combination of individual effort and shared team goals is what makes Zwift Racing League different. You race for yourself, but you show up for your team.

How to Get Started

New to ZRL? There are a few simple steps to get ready.

Get some racing under your belt. Complete a few races on Zwift to help establish your racing level and make sure you’re placed in the right ZRL league.

Try a Road to Zwift Racing League ride. These introduction rides are designed for riders thinking about racing ZRL. Ride with the group, learn how the league works and find out what to expect before you hit the start line. They’re available during registration periods between rounds.

Create your WTRL profile. Connect your Zwift account to WTRL, the platform used to manage ZRL teams, leagues and results.

From there, it’s time for the most important part: finding your team.

How To Find a Zwift Racing League Team

ZRL is all about racing together, so you’ll need a team before you can get started.

Visit the ZRL Find a Team page for ways to connect with teams looking for riders. You can also get your own crew together and register a team through WTRL.

From September 1, you’ll also be able to use Rider for Hire on the Find a Team page to share your availability with teams looking for racers.

Creating your own team? When you register through WTRL, you can choose the league and Tuesday race time that works for your crew.

Once you’ve found your squad, ZRL becomes much more than the race itself. There’s the build-up, the team chat, the tactics, the race and, of course, everything that gets talked about afterwards. Before long, Tuesday night racing can become a weekly ritual.

When does Zwift Racing League Happen?

The 2026/27 Zwift Racing League season features four 6-week rounds from September to April, with breaks and registration periods between each round.

Round 1 gets underway on September 22, 2026.

Racing takes place every Tuesday, with leagues and race times available across multiple time zones. Leagues are organised by ability, helping teams compete against riders at a similar level.

You don’t need to be chasing podiums to belong in ZRL. Whether you’re lining up for your first team race or battling for Round Champion glory, there’s a place to race.

Race Formats

No two weeks of ZRL feel quite the same. Different race formats, routes and scoring opportunities mean teams need to think about where their strengths lie and how best to use them.

Points Races – Race for finishing positions and points across designated sprints, KOMs and other segments along the route. With opportunities to score throughout the race, tactics and teamwork can make all the difference.

Team Time Trials (TTTs) – Race together against the clock, using the draft, rotating turns and working as a unit to get your team to the finish as quickly as possible. It’s teamwork in its purest form.

Race of Truth – New for 2026/27, this mass-start, draftless points race removes the benefit of sitting in the bunch. It’s you, your power and your team strategy against the rest of the field.

Different riders can shine on different weeks, whether you’re a sprinter, climber, powerhouse on the flats or the teammate who always finds a little more when the team needs it.

What’s New for 2026/27?

There’s plenty to discover throughout the new season:

  • Four 6-week rounds running from September to April.
  • Road to Zwift Racing League introduction rides to help new racers understand ZRL and get ready to join a team.
  • Race of Truth, a new mass-start, draftless points racing format.
  • New routes to race throughout the season.
  • 250 XP for every lap completed, adding up to thousands of XP across the season.
  • Exclusive unlocks and rewards to earn along the way.
  • Smaller teams and more league options, making it easier to get a crew together and find a race time that works.

There’s always another race, another result and another reason to show up for your team.

Why Join the Zwift Racing League?

Because racing is more fun when you do it together.

ZRL gives you a reason to train, a team to race with and something to look forward to every Tuesday. One week you might be fighting for points at the front; the next, you could be hanging on for dear life while a teammate tells you there’s only one more climb.

It’s competitive. It’s tactical. Sometimes it hurts. And when you cross the line knowing you gave everything for your team, it’s incredibly rewarding.

That’s the Type 2 Fun of Zwift Racing League.

Team up. Show up. Race together.
