TONIGHT’S SESSION (WEEK 3)
This Wednesday we’ll step up from last week. The session is a touch longer, and the amount of time spent in and around threshold level increases too. Again, the key focus is further improving maximal aerobic capacity, so the aim is to still be able to train with too much fatigue the day after.
For additional recommended sessions to complement this session during the week beginning 16th November and further training advice from the team at Jinx Sport, check out the latest Stages Power Builder Series article on https://www.tri247.com/Opens a new window
WORKOUT LEADER
This week’s session will be lead by Marc Jenkins (aka ‘Jinx’), one of the UK’s top professional triathletes for more than two decades, representing Great Britain at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
Marc was a British Champion, twice represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games (2002 and 2006) and represented Great Britain at multiple European and World Championships, ITU World Cup events and more. In 2015 he was presented with British Triathlon’s Gold Pin Award in recognition of his contribution to the sport.
Since 2007, Marc has been the coach to his wife, Helen Jenkins, a 2-time World Champion and 3-time Olympian. He brings that wealth of experience and knowledge to you this week.
The session was set by Marc’s coaching partner Rhys Jones at Jinx Sport (https://www.jinxsport.com/Opens a new window), as part of our 4-week Power Builder Series.
Supported by Stages Cycling (https://stagescycling.com/eneu/Opens a new window), ONE LUCKY PARTICIPANT IN THIS GROUP WORKOUT WILL WIN A STAGES DASH M50 BIKE COMPUTER WORTH OVER £200!!!
ABOUT GROUP WORKOUTS
Zwifters line up in the starting area just like a normal event and once the event starts, workout mode begins. Everyone stays together regardless of power output. That's right, if you're outputting 100W and another Zwifter is outputting 400W you will stay in exactly the same position relative to each other. Only if you stop pedaling and fall 6 meters behind the group will the rubber-banding stop.
HELPFUL HINT
We highly recommend doing one of the FTP tests as the estimated FTP can be inaccurate and make the difficulty level of the workouts too high for your current fitness level.
