EVENT DESCRIPTION
Join us for the Major Taylor 1899 Whirlwind Wednesday!

The ride leader will hold ~2.0 w/kg on the flats for the first 50 minutes to keep the group together. In the final 10 minutes, the fence drops, time to PUSH THE PACE and see who can hang on!

This is a non-banded ride, so maintaining the stated pace is key to staying with the beacon. Please respect group ride etiquette.

Why Major Taylor?

Marshall Walter Taylor, known as “Major Taylor”, was a trailblazing cycling legend. In 1899, he became the first U.S. born African American world champion in any sport, wining the 1-mile and 2-mile sprint world titles, along with multiple national championships.

This ride is hosted by the Major Taylor 1899 (MT1899) community cycling clubs across the USA united to honor his legacy. The acronym after each ride leader’s name identifies the hosting club.
