ABOUT THIS WORKOUT
Ken's Bicycle Warehouse (https://www.kensbicyclewarehouse.com/Opens a new window) has teamed up with Tim Curry and Kratos Physiology to help Zwift athletes worldwide prepare for their spring riding season. This tri-weekly training series utilizes the latest knowledge in physiology to create an progressive, periodized, effective training session for any athlete. Each week consists of two intensity days (Monday/Wednesday) and one casual group ride (Saturday). Every six week block is designed to work on a specific area of your cycling fitness. Currently, we are in the first block which is set up to work on your medium endurance (aka tempo, power zone 3) capabilities. Among other things this will help set you up for the next blocks as we build in more intensity. Come join us this winter, have some fun, and make your training work for you! If you live in the Boise, Idaho region you can enhance your experience by joining our live in person class at Ken's, just contact Jeremy through the Ken's site for more information.
WORKOUT DESIGNER
Tim Curry, MS RCEP (Kratos Physiology) - Everything we do at Kratos is for the athlete in everyone. Achieving your optimal performance can be a difficult task. You need to have the knowledge, equipment, and experience to design the optimal training plan all of which cost time and money. We reduce the barriers for every athlete by offering novel coaching and testing services as well as free training opportunities (such as on Zwift). Tim has over a decade of experience working as a coach and a physiologist for a wide range of individuals from kids to Olympic class athletes across a range of sports. Currently, he works as an Assistant Professor at the College of Western Idaho as well as a physiologist for the US Speedskating Sport Science Commission. If you have any questions or comments to direct to Tim he can be reached at kratosphys@gmail.com
ABOUT GROUP WORKOUTS
Zwifters line up in the starting area just like a normal event and once the event starts, workout mode begins. Everyone stays together regardless of power output. That's right, if you're outputting 100W and another Zwifter is outputting 400W you will stay in exactly the same position relative to each other. Only if you stop pedaling and fall 6 meters behind the group will the rubber-banding stop.
We highly recommend doing one of the FTP tests as the estimated FTP can be inaccurate and make the difficulty level of the workouts too high for your current fitness level. For more info on FTP go to: https://support.zwift.com/hc/en-us/articles/210208083-What-is-FTP-and-how-is-it-used-in-ZwiftOpens a new window
