About Nelson Mandela International Day

Former South African president and civil rights advocate Nelson Mandela dedicated his life to fighting for equality. His entire life stands as a testament to the power of the human spirit.

Nelson Mandela International Day is celebrated each year on July 18—Nelson Mandela's birthday. This event honors the idea that every individual has the power to transform the world and encourages people around the globe to help those in need. This year, we’ll be raising awareness and funds for the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s Each 1 Feed 1 Initiative which strives to combat poverty during the COVID-19 Pandemic throughout South Africa and around the world.

About the Challenge

The Nelson Mandela International Day Challenge is a celebration of Nelson Mandela’s life and legacy. Zwifters are encouraged to participate in several 67-minute group rides to raise awareness and funds for the Each 1 Feed 1 campaign.

Is This a Race?

No. This event is a charity ride aimed at spreading awareness and raising funds for the Each 1 Feed 1 Campaign. Nelson Mandela spent 67 years of his life fighting for social justice, so we’ll be riding for 67 minutes as a global community.
